Villajoyosa has 3.5 km of beaches, of note amongst these
is the Centro beach, where the famous Moorish landing is celebrated
and El Paradís beach. These are the best beaches, though there
are other beaches such as the Xarco beach with a watchtower and the
Torres beach with an attractive Roman/funereal Hercules tower. There
is also a small cove, called Racó Conill, which is used for diving
and naturism. The Bol Nou and la Caleta coves with their transparent
water are also worth mentioning.
The image of Villajoyosa as a fishing village with multicolour facades
and a busy fishing port, is complemented by several well-cared for
beaches - both wide bays and inlets - with calm, clear waters. Two
small sand and gravel inlets provide sheltered areas to learn to windsurf
and another is perfect for diving. Centro beach, also known as Ciudad
beach, running parallel to the promenade, is one fine sandy beach
worthy of mention with full facilities, a sports area and playgrounds
for children, in addition to sun, sand, diving and sailing.
The nearest beach to the city centre is the Playa de la Vila and
slightly further can be found Paraiso. Both are excellent with little
to chose between them. A little further and you will find the Torre
and Estudiantes Beaches.
So typical of the Costa Blanca is the myriad's of coves and bays.
Villajoyosa has its fare share of these, some quite secluded. Among
these can be found Bon Nou, or the Colonia Holandesa, both sheltered
from the North wind and described as havens of peace and tranquillity.
